Our Beliefs

Our Strategy

We want our church to be more like a river than a lake.  If you jump in a lake, you would typically exit the same place you went in.  If you jump in a river, you will likely exit further down the river than where you went in.  If you jump in and become a part of Venture, it is our desire and intention that you would be moved along to a new place of spiritual growth and maturity.

How do we see that happening?  We want to see each person ENCOUNTER, EXPERIENCE, and ENGAGE God’s love.  If a person accomplishes these things, we believe they will have moved “down river”.  Our strategy for seeing these things take place in your life is to have you commit to the following things:

Sunday Morning Services – This is the primary time that we ENCOUNTER what God’s wants for us and what God’s Word has to say to us.  We want you to commit to being here whenever possible on Sunday mornings to ENCOUNTER Him with us.

LifeGroups – This is where we EXPERIENCE God’s love in a practical way as we connect and grow together.  This best happens in a small group setting so there is accountability, encouragement, and connectedness with other people who are headed in the same direction.

Ministry Team – This is where we best ENGAGE God’s love by reaching out to and serving others.  God has given each of us a testimony and a spiritual gift to share with others and it is our desire to see everyone contribute in some way.

We believe that if you will commit to these three things, you will ENCOUNTER, EXPERIENCE, and ENGAGE God’s love.  As a result, you will grow spiritually and see God do some amazing things in your life.  So jump in and let’s move “down river” together!

Faith Statements

What we believe about:

  • One eternal God in three co-existent persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • Creator of man and all things
  • Really exists and loves and cares about people

 (Matthew 3:16-17; Genesis 1:1-27; Acts 17:24-28; John 1:1-4; 3:16)

  • God's only Son and Savior of the world
  • Born Jesus of Nazareth, both fully human and fully divine, conceived of the Holy Spirit and of the virgin Mary
  • Died and was buried, and physically rose again from the dead on the third day
  • Will return from heaven to earth to judge the living and the dead
(John 3:16, 20:24-31; Matthew 1:18, 21:11; Colossians 2:9; Luke 23:44-24:8; 1Corinthians 15:3-8; John 14:1-3; Acts 10:39-42

  • Active in the world eternally and co-equal with the Father and the Son of God
  • Present in the world to make men aware of the need for Jesus Christ and to provide Christ followers with the power to live pleasing to God
  • Dwells in every believer and gifts each of us for service

(John 16:7-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 12:1-11)

  • Is God's Word to us
  • Was written by men guided by the Holy Spirit
  • Is the ultimate source of truth and authority
  • Is our guidebook for living
  • Is without error
(Acts 1:16; Isaiah 40:8; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2Timothy 3:16-17)

  • Is a gift from God
  • Cannot be earned
  • Comes by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ
(Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8-11; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1John 1:7

  • Was modeled by Jesus
  • Was commanded by Jesus
  • Was integral part of conversion process of the first church in Acts
  • Is the outward expression of faith in Christ and something that everyone who accepts his Lordship should want to do
  • Immersion is the Biblical pattern/mode

 (Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; 2:41; Colossians 2:12; Romans 6:3-5)

The Bible teaches this pattern to follow to become a Christ follower:

  • Place one's faith in Christ as Savior of the World
  • Repent of personal sin
  • Confess Jesus Christ as Lord
  • Be immersed in baptism
(Luke 24:45-47; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7; 2Peter 3:9)
